The Church at Nails Creek was originally a log chapel built by Reverend Moses Sanders, a soldier in the Continental Army serving under George Washington. This building's first use was as a mission to the Indians and early settlers who lived in the area, but soon they outgrew their log chapel and had to build a new structure. On February 11, 1787, the church was opened and Rev. Sanders became the first pastor. Its focus has always been missions and so, Nails Creek has the honor of being the mother church of many in our area. Since then, the church has been rebuilt and renovated to meet the needs of today, but the same mission mindset is ever present.
